Why this exists
I wanted the information
I couldn’t find.
This project started after I called a plumber for a leaking toilet and paid $493.50,
including tax. I recall a visit of less than half an hour and a membership quoted at
$99 per year. The invoice lists an annual membership, but does not separate its price
from the repair. It left me wondering what other homeowners had paid for similar work.
Then I thought about how many other homeowners face the same uncertainty. A pipe starts
leaking, an outlet or circuit stops working, or a tree in the yard needs pruning or removal.
These problems are stressful and often cannot wait. In Canada, labour is expensive and
service pricing is often difficult to see before a technician arrives. Without a trusted
provider or a useful local price reference, every repair can feel like a blind decision—and
homeowners may spend more than necessary simply because they have too little information.
This website is meant to provide the reference I wished I had, especially around transparent
pricing. By sharing what was done, how long it took, what terms were offered, and what the
final bill was, local homeowners can better understand the price range, ask informed
questions, and feel less helpless when the next home problem appears.
It started in Kelowna, British Columbia, and is now open to homeowners across Canada. In this
first version, provider and homeowner names are withheld. Good and difficult experiences both belong here. The aim is to give
neighbours a useful price reference and a better set of questions for their next repair.
Not a complaint board.
Honest records of both good and bad service help the whole community.
